    Founded in 2004, McCollum Custom Homes has established itself as a premium custom builder with an excellent reputation for building not only beautiful homes, but also building enduring relationships with our former clients. That same sense of teamwork, loyalty and stability also persists among our talented staff and our well-established list of subcontractors and vendors, almost all of whom have worked together since the beginning.

      Schacht V. McCollum

      President, Founder

      President, Founder Schacht McCollum is a native Houstonian who has lived in Houston for over 25 years. A summa cum laude graduate of St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas, Schacht also holds a Juris Doctorate degree from South Texas College of Law and is a licensed attorney by the State Bar of Texas.

      After practicing law for five years, Schacht decided to follow his real passion - building custom homes of enduring beauty and quality. In August 2000, Schacht started his home building career with a local partnership, focused on custom homes in Houston's premier areas. He was personally involved in over 65 completed homes and just as many satisfied clients. His attention to detail and knowledge of the law served him well in this pursuit and delivering a quality product to discriminating clients.

      Shawn Guarniere

      Director of Operations

      As Director of Operations, Shawn ensures organizational effectiveness by coordinating smooth interactions between all McCollum departments, including building superintendents, sub-contractors, and office administrators. She manages relationships with bankers, realtors, and city agencies, and she is the primary interface with our clients. Shawn’s management style ensures timely responses and accurate communications.

      Shawn develops and implements McCollum Custom Homes’ organizational strategies, policies and practices, operational systems and business processes. Shawn efficiently manages major office projects and initiatives, and she is committed to high ethical standards and diversity in the workplace.

      Shawn knows that careful listening to McCollum clients and good teamwork result in the best possible client experience. The homeowner’s dream home is created by the combination of Schacht McCollum’s vision, management and building expertise, the superintendents’ knowledge and building experience, and Shawn’s organization and communication skills.

      Shawn is a graduate of the University of Houston and grew up in the Memorial area. When she is not working, Shawn enjoys spending time with her two dogs and her children: William, a Texas Christian University graduate now working at Memorial Hermann Hospital; Max, a University of Texas Civil engineering graduate working for AECOM in New York City; and Grace, majoring in theater set design at University of Evansville in Indiana.





      Patty Gomez

      Accounting

      Patty joined the McCollum team in 2014. She brings a world of accounting experience to our office.

      She was born and raised in Chicago, then moved to Colombia S.A where she attended la Universidad de EAFIT and received a Bachelors in Accounting. Patty first started her career as an auditor for Author Anderson and then worked in the rail road industry as an auditor. Patty was a comptroller in the oil and gas industry in Colombia. Then in 2000, moving to the states she became international finance director.

      When not at the office, Patty spends time with her two wonderful children who both attend the University of Texas. Juan, who is double majoring in neuroscience and biochemistry and Juliana who just got into the athletic training education program. Patty also enjoys the “empty nest” with her husband of 24 years who is a geologist for an oil and gas company. Her favorite hobby/passion is for animals. She used to foster dogs! Currently she spoils her chocolate lab, Angel.





      Neal Ryden

      Construction Supervisor

      Neal brings over twenty years of custom home building experience to McCollum. Neal started in 1978 as project manager in Austin, Texas, where he learned all phases of construction management. Relocating to Houston in 1990, he project managed construction of numerous $1M+ custom homes in exclusive neighborhoods like Tanglewood, West University, Bellaire and River Oaks.

      Neal personifies the personal touch that McCollum provides clients. He enjoys helping them develop their ideas and realize their dreams. His demeanor remains ever calm--even in the fast-paced building environment, partially due to his great time management skills. Neal's great people management skills, especially with our sub-contractors, contribute to the success of our home projects.

      When not with clients, Neal enjoys spending time with Darla, his wife of over 20 years, and his two grown sons. His favorite pastime is fishing!





      Adam Johnson

      Construction Supervisor

      Adam has over 15 years of management experience in the residential construction industry since he graduated from Stephen F Austin University. His expertise in scheduling and construction processes can be attributed to his years overseeing construction activities on custom homes and townhome projects in River Oaks, West University, Royal Oaks, Museum District and the Memorial area.

      Adam gained invaluable building experience in Houston’s custom home and inner-loop town home markets. He has served as both Project Manager of million-dollar-plus custom homes as well as numerous multi-family town homes for some of Houston’s most prominent builders. Adam is a valued member of McCollum’s Custom Home Team, and he will be in charge of construction for our new inner-loop townhome division, McCollum City Homes.

      Away from the office, Adam loves spending time with his daughter, Sloan. He also loves to attend sporting events, loves to go fishing and hunting.





      DeeDee Tognietti:

      Documentation Coordinator

      DeeDee is a graduate of California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, CA. Before coming to work at McCollum she coordinated numerous fundraisers and events for the Katy Independent school district resulting in raising over 750,000.00.

      DeeDee excels at all aspects of office administration. She organizes and manages all of the records, contracts, proposals, surveys, budgets and testing results related to each project. DeeDee's efficiency enables the McCollum team to quickly provide clients with the most current information for all aspects of each individual home project. She makes our clients' needs her top priority, and she keeps the office running smoothly by meeting the information needs of all parties involved in the home building process.

      DeeDee and her husband of 33 years, Terry, moved to Houston in 1987 when Terry was a Co-Founder and co-CEO of Drypers and now runs businesses in the consumer products and technology arenas. DeeDee is also a mother to three young men, Dominic, a graduate of LSU who works for California Resources and will be getting married to Amanda later this year. Gabriel, also a graduate of LSU, lives her in Houston and works for Apex Systems. DeeDee’s youngest lives in Katy and works as a personal trainer while competing in body building competitions. DeeDee also enjoys outdoor activities, going to the lake, traveling and watching sporting events.
